VolunteerTalk: Volunteer Interpreters

On April 6, 2016, the CAHHS Volunteer Services Office received the following inquiry from Liz Mirzaian, Director, Volunteer Resources at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, in Glendale, California:

Please use comment section below to reply to Liz’s inquiry.

Do any of you utilize volunteer interpreters in your hospitals, and if so, in which areas of your hospital?  Are these ad hoc interpreters or are they healthcare trained interpreters?  Who or which agency conducted the training and did your department/hospital cover the cost of the training, or was it the responsibility of each individual volunteer?

Any information is much appreciated.
