California Hospital Volunteer Impact Report
Data collection campaign dates: November 20, 2016 - January 31, 2017

A benefit available to California Hospital Association members is the California Hospital Volunteer Impact Report©.

Until now, one of the hardest things to measure in the hospital volunteer sector has been the impact volunteers have on meeting hospital and health system goals. The barriers to collecting hospital volunteer impact data are numerous and daunting. The largest impediments are that each hospital maintains its own style of calculating volunteer statistics, or has no electronic system for gathering and comparing volunteer data. In addition, each hospital’s volunteer organizational structure, staffing and programs are uniquely designed for that hospital. Until now, hospital volunteer organizations have not had one tool to measure data that can be fed into a collective, statewide database allowing them to compare their data against hospitals of similar size, setting and type.

Our report and data collection process is part of a multi-year plan to build a robust California hospital volunteer impact database.  We anticipate it will take a few years for hospital volunteer programs to adjust their record keeping processes to provide all of the data requested. The first data set was collected in 2014.  A second round of data collection is taking place between November 30, 2016 – January 31, 2017.  A $50 discount for one registration to the 2017 California Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference will be granted to California hospitals that fully complete the questionnaire by January 31, 2017.

We are collaborating for collective benefit. Individual responses will not be disclosed.  Hospital or health system respondents will be pre-approved by CAHHS Volunteer Services.  Click here to respond on behalf of your hospital or health system.
