Thank you for agreeing to speak at our upcoming Disaster Planning for California Hospitals conference. This web page provides general information about the event and specific information to help with your presentation and travel arrangements.

Conference Overview

Purpose of the Conference

This program is designed to provide hospitals with the information, tools and resources to prepare for an unprecedented man-made or natural catastrophe. It allows colleagues to connect at the largest gathering of hospital emergency preparedness coordinators in California. We’ll explore new approaches and solutions that evolve from real-life crises to build critical skills and strengthen preparedness and response.

Who Will Attend

We are expecting 800 hospital administrators, emergency preparedness coordinators, disaster planners, risk managers, physicians, nurse executives, emergency department managers, safety and security personnel, and other hospital professionals from throughout the state.

Conference Meeting Locations

The conference and exhibit show will be held at the Sacramento Convention Center, located just across the street from the host hotel, the Hyatt Regency Sacramento. The pre-conference workshop on Monday, September 19 and selected breakout sessions will be held at the Hyatt Regency.

CHA is pleased to offer you complimentary registration for all three days of the conference, including the pre-conference workshop.

Click here to register online. On the first page, select “Speaker” as the registration type. On the payment page, enter the discount code provided in your speaker confirmation email to receive your complimentary conference registration.


Speakers are responsible for making their own hotel and transportation arrangements. We are pleased to offer you complimentary hotel accommodations as described in your speaker confirmation email. Hotel nights covered by CHA will be automatically removed from the speaker’s bill — there is no need to submit a form for reimbursement.

The deadline for presentations is July 14.

All speakers are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation, which should be formatted using the standard 4:3 aspect ratio. Supplementary handouts are also welcome and will be posted along with your presentation slides (via PDF file) on CHA’s website for attendees to download prior to the conference. Presentation materials will also be accessible via the Disaster Planning Conference app. CHA does not provide printed handouts for attendees unless there is a specific need to have copies available during the presentation. If you have concerns with this policy, or if your presentation and/or handouts require special considerations, call Patricia Ward at (916) 552-7526.

As you prepare your presentation, keep in mind that conference attendees represent hospitals from all sizes and configurations (for example: large vs. small, for-profit and not-for-profit, rural and metropolitan, independent and system-integrated). Whenever possible, presentations should provide information that is applicable to all types of facilities.

On-Site Resources

A PC laptop, LCD projector, podium and podium microphone will automatically be provided. CHA will follow up with you to determine any additional needs you might have.

A member of the committee will be in each breakout room to introduce the speakers and assist with question-and-answer periods.
