California Hospitals and the Economy — Ongoing Credit Crisis Jeopardizes Seismic Compliance Mandate

California’s ongoing credit crisis is having a significant impact on hospitals’ ability to comply with the rigorous seismic mandates. Based on the results of a survey of hospital chief financial officers, the attached CHA Special Report illustrates that hospitals continue to feel pressure from declining revenues, increased costs and limited access to the capital necessary to ensure their buildings are earthquake-safe. The survey was conducted by CHA during the second quarter of 2009.
