Sister Abby Newton, O.P.
Vice President, Mission Integration, St. Joseph's Medical Center, Stockton

In her senior executive role, Sister Abby is responsible for volunteers, and formerly of St. Joseph’s Auxiliary, as well as Spiritual Services and Community Health.  She holds a Masters degree in Theology with an emphasis on Health Care Mission from Aquinas Institute in St. Louis and a degree in Education from the University of San Francisco.  Prior to coming to healthcare, she spent 27 years in elementary education as a junior high teacher and principal.  Her Congregation, the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, have a long history in Stockton (1876) and at St.

Joseph’s (from its founding in 1899) and she considers it a great privilege to continue the Sisters’ presence and ministry.
