Ruben Cantu

Ruben Cantu is the Program Director at the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN), a statewide organization working to improve the health of communities of color in California. Program Director since 2007, Ruben oversees program activities to inform and support CPEHN’s policy efforts.He is the liaison to CPEHN’s constituent base, community organizations serving communities of color.Since 2010, Ruben has been the Facilitator/Writer for the California Reducing Disparities Project (CRDP) statewide strategic plan, working with community partners to develop a plan to reduce mental health disparities in underserved populations in California. A graduate of the University of Houston, Ruben has fifteen years of non-profit experience in program management, technical assistance and capacity building, and HIV prevention and care. Before joining CPEHN, Ruben lived in Washington, DC, and worked for the Human Rights Campaign, the National Minority AIDS Council, and Mosaica: The Center for Nonprofit Development and Pluralism. Ruben serves on several state advisory bodies, including the California Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee and Regional Asthma Management and Prevention’s Advisory Committee. Ruben has extensive experience in organizational development, including resource development, strategic planning, and Board development.
