Robin Watson
Volunteer, Fairchild Medical Center, Yreka

Robin began volunteering at Fairchild Medical Center (Yreka) in 2007 after retiring from a 35 year career in the legal profession.  She is a third generation Fairchild Medical Center Auxiliary volunteer, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother.

In 2009, Robin was elected as Secretary of the Auxiliary and served in that position for two years.  She held the position of First Vice President for the following two years and in December 2014 completed her second term as President.  She has volunteered in the Out Patient Surgery Department, at the Front Desk and is currently volunteering in the hospital’s Gift Shop.

During her tenure as President, she was instrumental in updating the Auxiliary’s By-Laws and Handbook, and developing protocols for the Patient Transportation Program and the Visiting Volunteer program.  Robin worked closely with Administration in developing the new patient-centered program, Visiting Volunteer, and spearheaded a blanket drive that provided holiday-themed blankets for patients hospitalized during the holiday season.

In October 2014 Robin was “encouraged” to seek election as President-Elect of Mt. Shasta Area Council (MSAC) and is currently serving in that capacity.  Her accomplishments and dedication to her Auxiliary and MSAC were recognized by CAHHS and she was asked to serve on the CAHHS Committee on Volunteer Services (COV) and as a Region Representative for Region 1.

Robin presented at the 2015 CAHHS Hospital Volunteer Leadership Conference (Patient Transportation—In Everyone’s Best Interest) and repeated that presentation at MSAC’s educational conference last month.  The session was so well received that she will present again in a web forum.  Robin has also facilitated two leadership/Governance roundtable discussions at MSAC educational conferences.

She is honored to be a member of COV and a Region Representative, is excited to be a part of the planning for 2016 conference and is looking forward to carrying out her responsibilities as a region representative.
