Richard Hart
Volunteer, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, La Mesa

Richard Hart is a career educator teaching for over 30 years at the high school level. In the past ten years he has continued in education as an Adjunct Professor at National University in San Diego.

In his extensive work as a volunteer at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in Eastern San Diego County he has worked in the Auxiliary Thrift Korral where money is raised to provide additional services that add to patient and visitor comfort. In other capacities, Mr. Hart has served as Blood Drive Chairman, Scholarship Chairman, Auxiliary Vice President and the Auxiliary President for two years. Since 2015 he has served on Auxiliary Board  as Director of Communications. In 2015 Mr. Hart was awarded a Sharp Hospital C.O.R.E. Award for individual service to the community, and an award from the Grossmont Healthcare District as a “Healthcare Hero”

Mr. Hart is a member of CAHHS and has serves on the planning committee and as chairman of the Committee of Volunteer Services in 2015. Visiting hospitals as advisor to Region III, which includes San Diego and Imperial Counties, has helped him recognize the importance of volunteers as part of the hospital team. He sees the importance of volunteer education and clear communications so the hospital of the future will be ready to meet the many new challenges.
