Mary McCormack, CAVS is the Director of Volunteer Services for Nemours Children’s Specialty Care. She has shown thousands of people and organizations how to successfully apply creative solutions to challenges involving leadership, Joint Commission standards, and best business management practices over the past 34 years. Mary has presented to conference attendees in 38 states. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she served as Captain of the Women’s Varsity Fencing Team. She is a nationally Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) and is a certified national trainer for the Association of Healthcare Volunteer Resource Management (AHVRP). Mary is the author of Constant Readiness: Recommended Practices for Joint Commission Standards (Second Edition). Her book is published by AHVRP and the American Hospital Association. She hosted two national healthcare disaster preparedness videos for PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning, a satellite-based distance learning company with a viewership of 1.2 million on lessons learned from the 9-11 attack. Mary presented two programs on volunteer management at an international peace congress in Toronto, Canada for the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO). The Association of Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals (AHVRP) honored Mary with the national Award of Excellence in 2007. The Florida Association of Directors of Volunteer Services presented her with their highest peer award, the Commitment to Excellence Award, in 2004. She has twice served as president of the North Florida Chapter of the National Speakers Association. She is a past president and a silversmith instructor at the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society. Mary resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
