Martin Gallegos

Dr. Martin Gallegos has an extensive background in both health care and government. Prior to joining CHA, he served in Gov. Davis’ administration as director of the California Office of the Patient Advocate. In November 1994, he was elected to the 57th Assembly District, making history by becoming the first doctor of chiropractic elected to the California Legislature.

While in the Legislature, he served as chair of the Assembly Health Committee for four years, and chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Health Access and Assembly Select Committee on Domestic Violence. He also served on the Assembly Committees on Budget, Banking and Finance, Insurance, Labor and Employment, and the Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services. In addition, he served on the Assembly Select Committees on Medi-Cal Fraud, Los Angeles County Health Care, San Gabriel Valley Groundwater Contamination, Alameda Corridor East, and Joint Committee on Mental Health Reform.

He received his education at East Los Angeles College, Occidental College and Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. He earned an associate of arts degree, bachelor of science degree in biology and graduated as a doctor of chiropractic in 1982. He also has an honorary doctor of sciences degree from the California School of Professional Psychology.
