Marilyn Copeland
Director, Learning for Life, Boy Scouts of America, San Diego/Imperial County, California

Marilyn Copeland began her career as a high school English teacher.After moving to San Diego in 1990, she became involved in volunteer management and is still working in this field.  

At both Girl Scouts and Camp Fire USA, she recruited, trained and supported volunteers , and when she was hired by the Boy Scouts of America, San Diego-Imperial Council she continued these endeavors.

As Director of Learning for Life/Exploring, an affiliate of the Boy Scouts, Marilyn oversees the implementation of their character development and career exploration programs implemented by teachers and Explorer Post Advisors.

The Exploring program gives youth the opportunity to learn about career fields that might interest them while encouraging them to prepare for their future.  By participating, these young people are also building self-worth and self-confidence, so they can ultimately become contributing members of their community.
