Lane Calvert

Lane Calvert has worked for the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years.  He moved to Orange County 15 years ago, and is currently the Exploring Director.  As Exploring Director, he links community leaders (Rotarians) with youth.  As Assist.Dist.Interact Chair, he developed a link between Rotary and Exploring involving Interactors as Explorers who are then able to take advantage of Boy Scout facilities, insurance and leadership opportunities.  Scouting for Food has become a district wide project and Rotary Workability links Special Needs youth with Rotarians.

Lane received his B.S. degree in Recreation and Outdoor Education from Cal State Northridge in 1973.  He served on the Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Marina, California, and the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park Board.

For the past twenty-five years, Lane has been an active member of Rotary, serving with six clubs throughout California. He served as president of the Anaheim Rotary Club from 2000-2001 where he has been a member 12 years and he has served as Foundation Chair for the last two years.  He served as Assistant Governor for three Governors.  He has also served on the Governor’s Advisory Committee.  He is now Rotary 5320 Youth Programs Chairman..  His club selected him as “Rotarian of the Year” and a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and he just joined the new District 5320 Paul Harris Society.

For Lane, life in Rotary and Exploring has been, and will continue to be, built on “Service above Self.”  His personal theme “Character Counts in the family of Rotary” will encourage Rotarians to live by “The Four-Way Test” sharing their life’s accomplishments with others.
