Ana Maria Castro
Promotora, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

A native of El Paso, Texas, Ana Maria Castro is a bilingual communications professional. She holds a bachelors’ degree in Broadcast Journalism from Cal State University, Northridge. She has worked as a news reporter, corporate spokesperson, interpreter, substitute teacher and most recently made a transition to the health care field having worked at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. There, she worked as an Environmental Services Supervisor, where she oversaw a staff of 25. After leaving Providence, she saw a great need for bilingual staff at the information desk so she decided to volunteer her time. She interpreted for patients, visitors and hospital staff. 

Currently, she is a “promotora” with Children’s Hospital Salud program. She does community outreach in the field of flu prevention and proper hand hygiene. Ms. Castro loves working in health care. Her passion is what drives her to be an advocate for her community.
