Code Blue
Grassroots Community Outreach

CHA’s Code Blue grassroots advocacy program builds awareness and support for California’s community hospitals with key opinion leaders, community business leaders, local elected officials and other stakeholders who have a vested interest in the health and well-being of their communities.

As part of the Code Blue outreach effort, CHA and the three Regional Associations conduct regular briefing meetings with key stakeholders at the local level on critical financial and other issues that impact hospital delivery of services and patient’s access to care in their communities. This grassroots effort has been augmented by special hospital and health care supplements published in major metropolitan business journals throughout the state, including the Los Angeles Business Journal, the Sacramento Business Journal, the Orange County Business Journal, the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley San Jose Business Journal. Each supplement highlights key statewide issues, such as health care reform and Medi-Cal/Medicare underfunding, emergency room overcrowding, the uninsured and under-insured, the growing health care workforce shortage and patient-safety and quality efforts.
