Will the UC Davis Medical Center go for another inpatient tower?
Sacramento Business Journal

UC Davis Medical Center officials have begun a study to see if building a new inpatient tower makes sense.

In the midst of ongoing earthquake safety projects, the big question is whether to build outpatient capacity or do some contingency planning for more hospital beds.

The medical center is in the beginning stages of a $200 million construction and demolition boom to tear down old buildings, do upgrades and build new ones. Upgrades aren’t feasible for two older buildings: The north-south tower must be torn down or taken out of service for acute care by 2020; the east wing by 2030.
