Why Blue Shield and Anthem Blue Cross may owe you money
Sacramento Business Journal

The state managed-care regulator has fined Blue Shield of California and Anthem Blue Cross a total of $600,000 for inaccurate provider directories. Blue Shield will pay $350,000 and Anthem will pay $250,000 under settlements announced Tuesday by the California Department of Managed Health Care. Both plans must improve the accuracy of their directories and reimburse members for costs they incurred from care received outside the network due to faulty information.
