A warning for local families about health insurance

About 45,000 people in the Sacramento area remain uninsured and a many of them may be eligible for subsidies to help pay the premiums, Covered California officials announced Friday. The open enrollment period to sign up for new coverage extends through January, but those who enroll by Dec. 15 can start on Jan. 1. Three areas — Florin, Arden-Arcade and Citrus Heights — have a concentration of uninsured residents believed to be eligible for subsidies, according to a map released by the exchange.
