Visalia hospital to screen emergency room visitors
Fresno Bee

Beginning Monday, patients and visitors entering the emergency department at Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia will be screened by security officers using magnetic wands that can detect knives, guns and other metal weapons.

The security measure is an effort to increase safety and was not prompted by a specific incident, said Dan Allain, director of emergency and critical care services.

“I’d like to think we’ve taken a proactive step.”
