VCMC gets its finances in order
Ventura County Star

Ventura County Medical Center has turned around its financial ship in just one year.

The public hospital showed a loss of $8.5 million in the 2013-14 fiscal year, and an income of almost $20 million in 2014-15, according to county Auditor-Controller Jeff Burgh.

There were one-time hits on the expense side that contributed to the loss, but it was the willingness of hospital executives to both tighten spending and renegotiate a critical Medi-Cal contract that helped change the balance.
