Valley boosts Covered California enrollment in Feb.

Ahead of a March 31 deadline to get health insurance or pay a fine, 3,325 people in Fresno, Kings and Madera counties enrolled in plans offered by Covered California, the state’s new health exchange, in February.

Enrollment began in October 2013. Through the end of February, Covered California’s Region 11, which includes Fresno, Kings and Madera counties, had a total of 17,035 people enrolled in plans.

In Region 10, which includes San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Mariposa and Tulare counties, 36,978 people were enrolled through February, with an increase of 7,282 enrollments last month alone.
