UnitedHealth to exit California’s individual insurance market
Los Angeles Business Journal

UnitedHealth Group Inc. is leaving the individual health insurance market in California, forcing about 8,000 customers to seek new coverage.

UnitedHealth (NYSE: UNH), the country’s leading health insurer, told state regulators it would stop selling individual coverage in California at the end of the year, according to the Los Angeles Times.

UnitedHealth is the second major health insurer to leave the state. Last month, Aetna Inc., the third-largest health insurer, said it would also exit, affecting about 50,000 policyholders.
