UC patient care, service workers plan walkout
San Francisco Chronicle

For the second time in seven months, thousands of patient care and service workers at the five UC medical centers plan to walk off their jobs Wednesday as part of a contract dispute over retirement plans, wages and staffing levels.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299, which is leading the one-day strike, represents about 13,000 nursing aides, certified nursing assistants, magnetic resonance imaging technologists and other positions at the UC medical centers.
