UC Davis spinoff venture gets $4M federal grant for experimental pain treatment

A Davis startup announced on Monday it received a $4 million federal grant to begin clinical trials on a drug to treat pain, particularly pain associated with diabetes. Founded in Dec. 2011, EicOsis LLC is working on research from the University of California Davis that aims to moderate pain at the cellular level. The grant was awarded by the National Institutes of Health. The company has been working on a treatment for neuropathic and inflammatory pain in people and animals.
