Trader Joe’s cutting part timers from health insurance plan
Portland Business Journal

Trader Joe’s will be cutting part-time employees from its health plan and is directing them instead to seek coverage on health insurance exchanges next year, the Huffington Post reported, citing a confidential memo from the grocer’s chief executive. In a memo to staff dated Aug. 30, CEO Dan Bane said the company will cut part timers a check for $500 in January and help guide them to new plans available under the Affordable Care Act. The company will continue to offer health coverage to workers who put in 30 hours or more, the Huff Post reported.
