Surgical robots simplifying head and neck surgeries

Surgical robots have modernized and simplified many surgeries, but robotics have also entered medicine at a surprisingly slow clip.

The robots were initially envisioned as tools to aid surgeons in reaching beyond the limits of more traditional surgical options — robotics offered a future where surgeries could be minimally invasive and more precise. Experimenting with robots in surgery began in earnest in the 1980s. In 1999, the now-popular da Vinci surgical robot hit the market.
