State requires HMOs to see patients quickly
Orange County Register - Courtney Perkes

State insurance regulators on Wednesday announced first-in-the-nation rules to decrease how long HMO patients wait to see a doctor or even have a phone call returned. The Department of Managed Health Care said health plans will have one year to implement the so-called timely access regulations. The standards require urgent primary care appointments within 48 hours and non-urgent appointments within 10 business days.
