Stanford launches home-grown health plan
San Francisco Business Times

Stanford University, Stanford Hospital & Clinics and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital are launching an ACO-style health plan for up to 50,000 eligible Stanford employees and dependents, with help from Blue Shield of California.

An unknown number of Stanford employees have already signed up. Beginning in January, the self-funded PPO program — called Stanford Healthcare Alliance — will offer coverage through a so-called narrow network of providers that includes Stanford’s own hospitals and doctors and some outside providers, reportedly including Affinity Medical Group doctors in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
