St. Joseph Health announced on Tuesday that it will give more than $500,000 to 19 Orange County nonprofits working to end hunger and homelessness.

Recipients range from Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine, which will spend the money on fresh produce, to the Irvine-based Illumination Foundation, which will pay for emergency housing for homeless families.

“Hunger and homelessness are huge obstacles to health and well-being,” Annette Walker, interim CEO of St. Joseph Health, said in a statement.
