South LA clinic sees ‘resurgence’ in teen births despite drop in Calif., US rate
Southern California Public Radio

For every 1,000 teenage girls in South L.A., there are about 58 teen births. Compare that to L.A. County’s overall rate: 31 teen births per 1,000 teen girls. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says the teen birth rate in the U.S. has fallen sharply – by 25 percent – since 2007. That drop was even steeper in California, where it fell by about 28 percent.
