Senate restores Obamacare funding to bill keeping government open
San Francisco Business Times

The ball is back in the House’s court when it comes to avoiding a government shutdown at midnight Monday. The Senate passed legislation Friday afternoon on a party-line 54-44 vote to fund the government through Nov. 15. This vote occurred after Democrats pushed through an amendment that stripped a provision from a House-passed bill that would defund health-care reform. An effort by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, to block this vote failed when the Senate voted 79-19 to end debate on the legislation. Most Republicans voted with Democrats to end debate.
