San Pedro hospital marks 90 years of service with emergency room expansion announcement
Daily Breeze - Los Angeles

When it was dedicated in 1925, San Pedro’s hospital didn’t even have a proper building.

Instead, it was sandwiched inside an old hotel near the waterfront.

And while it now boasts 356 beds and the latest in medical technology, the hospital retains its hometown feel, thanks to the close-knit port community it serves.

On Wednesday, the facility — now Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center at 1300 W. Seventh St. — celebrated 90 years of serving the community by unveiling plans for an $8 million emergency room expansion to be completed by the end of 2017.
