RWJF chief warns obesity woes linger

The head of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation cautioned the nation against becoming complacent in its fight against obesity, saying that nearly one-third of American children are still overweight or obese and at risk for serious diseases. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, the foundation’s president and CEO, said this following a new report in the Journal of the American Medical Association that showed the prevalence of a high body mass index among U.S. children and adolescents appears to have leveled since 1999.
