Richmond: West County assemblyman wants new hospital for area
Contra Costa Times

State Assemblyman Tony Thurmond said he is working hard to make more resources available for low-income students in West Contra Costa and statewide.

During his talk Saturday on education and related issues, sponsored by the El Cerrito branch of the NAACP, Thurmond said he is working to improve housing affordability, public safety, health care, job training, substance abuse counseling and other programs he thinks are needed to bolster student achievement.

Thurmond was elected in November of 2014 to the Assembly seat representing District 15, which runs from Hercules south to the Oakland border, after serving on the Richmond City Council and the West Contra Costa school district board.
