Report card: 6 of 9 Calif. HMOs show improvement

Patient satisfaction ratings have gone up for six of nine California health maintenance organizations rated by a state agency. In its annual HMO report card released Tuesday, California’s Office of the Patient Advocate evaluated the state’s nine largest HMOs on clinical quality and patient satisfaction. Top scores went to Kaiser Permanente Southern California, PacifiCare and Western Health Advantage, which all received four-star ratings from their members.
