Obama touts healthcare reform’s first-year objectives

President Barack Obama in his weekly radio address outlined what he expects from health reform in its first year of implementation, claiming it will “build a new foundation” for American families, and bring down costs for businesses and the government. It will take a few years to fully implement these reforms in a responsible way, Obama said. “But what every American should know is that once I sign health insurance reform into law, there are dozens of protections and benefits that will take effect this year.”
