Nursing center proposed for Tahoe Park area

A Santa Barbara company is proposing to build a 159-bed skilled nursing center at a former convalescent hospital site in Tahoe Park, officials said Friday.

Plans filed by Pacific Coast Investments call for construction of the two-level, 103,000-square-foot center at 63rd Street between 18th Avenue and Manley Court.

The former Fairhaven Convalescent Hospital, which closed in 2004, is now on that site and would be demolished if the new proposal receives city backing, said local attorney Ryan Hooper, who represents the project backers.
