Nurses at Watsonville Community Hospital to strike Tuesday
Santa Cruz Sentinel

Registered nurses plan to strike Tuesday at Watsonville Community Hospital, alleging bad faith bargaining for a contract to replace one that expired Sept. 30.

The nurses, who are represented by the California Nurses Association, plan to begin picketing at 6:45 a.m., then return to work Wednesday.

Temporary replacement nurses procured from a staffing agency and licensed to work in California will fill in, according to hospital spokeswoman Cindy Weigelt, and surgeries and diagnostic procedures are expected to take place as scheduled.
