Nurses’ policy views seen as overlooked

Nurses are among the most-trusted and best-informed sources of information on the healthcare system, yet their opinions on new patient-care policies promulgated by government and hospital leaders are seen as widely disregarded, a new survey for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has found. In a poll of more than 1,500 “national opinion leaders” on healthcare, 90% of respondents said they wished nurses had more influence on the development of policies to reduce medical errors and improve patient safety.
