New CEO completes round trip through Roche back to Genentech
San Francisco Business Times

A onetime Genentech Inc. executive who went on to spend four years with Swiss parent organization Roche was named Thursday as CEO of the South San Francisco biotech pioneer.

Alexander Hardy will succeed Bill Anderson as the top executive of Roche’s North American biotech operations as of March 1, the company said. He will be Genentech’s seventh CEO in its nearly 43-year history and its fourth since Roche bought out Genentech, whose history is rich in groundbreaking cancer drugs, in 2009 for $47 billion.
