Nearly half a million undocumented immigrants lose U.S. health insurance

A lot of undocumented immigrants got federally subsidized health insurance through Humana Inc. this year, but they didn’t keep it for long. They’re among 150,000 members the company lost when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) booted them on June 30 from their private plans, which sometimes are subsidized based on income, “for lack of proper immigration documentation and/or income status,” according to Humana’s third-quarter earnings report, cited here by Forbes.
