Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach received a five-year, $250,000 federal grant that will expand its Transition Care Program for youth adult patients shifting to adult health care doctors, the hospital announced Tuesday.

“Transition services are provided through a team approach,” Dr. Stacey Epstein of Miller Children’s Hospital said in a statement. “That makes it vital for health care providers on both the pediatric and adult sides to have a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities to facilitate the patient’s successful transition.”

Miller Children’s Hospital is one of eight hospitals nationwide that received this grant.
