Marin healthcare board candidates divide over hospital management structure

The six candidates seeking three seats on the Marin Healthcare District board in the Nov. 4 election have divided into two camps — as district candidates often have over the past nearly 30 years.

The rift developed back in 1985, when the decision was made to lease the publicly owned Marin General Hospital to a private nonprofit. The feud gained intensity when Sutter Health took control of the lease in 1995.
