Local hospitals remain ‘baby friendly’
Ventura County Star

Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital have received renewal of their “baby friendly” status by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund.

The initiative’s goal is to help improve the health of mothers and babies through breast-feeding and skin-to-skin bonding.

Both hospitals are staffed with lactation consultants, who assist mothers with breast-feeding skills. The hospitals also have lactation rooms so patients and visitors can have convenient, private places to breast-feed or pump.
