Loan repayment offered for local doctors
Orange County Register - Courtney Perkes

The Orange County Children and Families Commission, which distributes local tobacco tax dollars, is starting a new loan forgiveness program to recruit more local pediatric specialists to help ease a shortage. The commission, starting next year, is offering to repay $125,000 in medical debt over three years for pediatric specialists in areas such as neurology, endocrinology and orthopedics. The doctors must practice in Orange County and treat patients enrolled in Medi-Cal and Healthy Families, the state’s low-cost insurance program.
