Kaiser Permanente posts $2.1B in 2009 profits
San Francisco Business Times - Chris Rauber

Kaiser Permanente, one of Northern California’s most dominant health systems, said Friday its net income bounced back last year from the doldrums of 2008, yielding a profit of $2.1 billion in 2009, versus a horrific loss of $794 million two years ago. In a truncated financial statement released late Friday, Kaiser said that total operating revenue for fiscal 2009 was $42.1 billion, up 4.5 percent from 2008’s $40.3 billion. Operating income for the year, at $1.6 billion, or 3.8 percent of revenue, was comparable to 2008’s $1.5 billion, or 3.6 percent of revenue.
