Sacramento Business Journal

George Halvorson, chairman and CEO at Kaiser Permanente, told employees Thursday morning he plans to retire at the end of next year. He will be 66. He’s been at the helm at Oakland-based Kaiser — the dominant health plan and a major employer in the Sacramento region — since 2002. Under his leadership, Kaiser has grown to more than 9 million members, pioneered electronic health records and become a model for the future of health care.
