Kaiser Permanente announces $170M in 2009 community grants, $90M in Q4

Kaiser Permanente said Thursday it approved 500 community benefit grants and donations in 2009’s fourth quarter totaling $90 million, giving it a total of $170 million in such donations nationwide last year. Oakland-based Kaiser, one of the nation’s largest health plans with roughly 8.6 million enrollees, said the grants are part of a broader $1.7 billion budget in 2009 for community benefits.
