Judge limits Wednesday strike at University of California medical centers
San Francisco Business Times

A judge in Sacramento limited the number of AFSCME workers who can go on strike Wednesday at University of California medical centers. The move by Judge David Brown prevents some employees “who perform essential functions in patient health and safety” from walking off their jobs. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees represents 13,000 patient care workers and 8,300 other employees at the University of California and, unlike another union, the California Nurses Association, which settled its dispute with UC on Monday, AFSCME 3299 still plans to strike.
