With anecdotal reports of job cuts at hospitals pouring in from across the country, experts say this may be what healthcare cost-cutting looks like—and there may be much more to come. “Hospitals are labor-intensive. And if we’re going to see cost-cutting in hospitals, the first place you are going to look is labor,” said David Dranove, professor of health industry management at the Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Ill.
