Hospitals differ in reproductive services offered
Mount Shasta Herald

Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Redding was in the news when a judge ruled Jan. 14 that the hospital did not have to perform a tubal ligation on a woman if it violated the facility’s religious beliefs. The woman requested that her tubes be tied as a method of birth control at the Caesarean section birth of her second child. The ACLU sued to force the hospital to perform the procedure. Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West, operates several dozen facilities throughout the west including Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta.
